Guarantee Maids Workout Fun

“The only bad workout is no workout!”

We all know that we should be exercising on a regular basis. Do you do it? I know I’m guilty of skipping it when it feels like there is just too much on my plate and something has to give. So it’s not that I don’t know I should. It’s more a matter of when. It is sometimes so hard to fit it into our daily routine. Between kids, work and the millions of other things that take over our lives, it makes it hard to make it a priority.

The CDC recommends that each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. That’s 2 days plus 2.5 hours of free time that I just don’t have! Heck, I can barely find time for a trip to the bathroom, much less more than 2 days of exercise! (sorry if that’s TMI!!)

However, at Guarantee Maid Services we recognize the importance of having happy, healthy employees. It benefits them and us, as well as our clients! So we decided to start offering exercise classes to our team. Nothing fancy, just time spent at our office working out. On Wednesdays we do HIIT(high intensity interval training) and on Fridays we do yoga. A girl I went to Sunday School with when we were growing up now teaches yoga. When we stopped Spanish lessons we then started yoga with her as our teacher. Then she told us about how she is teaching HIIT as well, so we decided to add it too!  Are we good at it? Some yes, some no, but we love it and we have become so much more of a team I feel by doing this. I love it!! At the end of the day some movement is better than no movement and quite frankly, the laughter we enjoy during our sessions does as much for us as the workout itself! And you know what they say – “Laughter is the best medicine!

Fitter, healthier, happier.

A big benefit of our workout sessions is that our employees (and me) don’t have to try to find time before or after work to take care of ourselves. We fit it right into the normal work schedule! It isn’t mandatory, it is fun, so why not take advantage of it?

Because we believe that our employees are our greatest asset, we do all that we can to help them to remain happy and healthy. Our team workouts are just a small part of that. After all, we all know that a happy employee is a productive employee. But, it’s not just that. At GMS we are a close-knit bunch and consider ourselves family. That’s why we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, work anniversaries, and a host of other milestones in our employees’ lives. We can sometimes be found heading out for lunch (I swear it’s always healthy – crawfish and cupcakes excepted!), enjoying employee appreciation days, and lots of other fun activities!
