Quick Tips for Cleaning After the Halloween Party

Thinking about cleaning after a Halloween party already? Worry not, you’ve come to the right place!

That spooktacular time of year is here once again. I absolutely love Halloween. The decorating, costumes, parties and trick or treaters make it such a fun time of year. Decorating is so much fun and I love getting the whole family involved. Check out this blog post to see which state decorates the most and what the most popular decoration by state.

What I don’t love is cleaning up after Halloween is over. Especially if you had your own party with friends, family, and neighborhood kids.

Although it’s plenty of fun, the house – ohhhh the house – may never be quite the same. Streamers, fake cobwebs and blood, candy wrappers and lots of other bits and pieces leaving stains on your couch, carpet and table tops. And don’t even get me started on what happens when someone spills a drink!

Fortunately for you, Guarantee Maid Services has plenty of experience in this department and decided we would share some of our best tips and tricks to help you out with house cleaning and organizing after Halloween is over.

4 Quick Tips After the Party is Over

1.) Removing Carpet Stains

Flying Drink? Well it is Halloween – anything is possible! But with the right tools and cleaner, you will have that stain gone in no time. The best carpet stain remover will be tailored to what caused the stain, so be sure to research the stain before you start scrubbing. But regardless of what caused it, the first step is to gently blot it to try to remove as much of the stain as possible. Remember, never rub – that will only make matters worse.

2.) Removing Countertop Stains

Glass rings, sticky messes and other mysterious stains can wreak havoc with your countertops. But cleaning them isn’t as hard as you might think. Make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the stain and let sit for roughly five minutes, then rinse off with a soft cloth. Baking soda is a mild abrasive, so don’t scrub. Repeat if necessary.

3.) Prevention is Key - Prepare in advance.

  • Make sure your dishwasher is empty before the party so you can just load it up right away after everyone heads for home.
  • If you use disposable plates, cups and utensils, make sure you have plenty of wastebaskets strategically placed so a lot of the waste ends up in there instead of on your floor.
  • If you have a big yard and the weather is agreeable be sure to have seating set up and encourage people to enjoy the outdoors. This will keep a lot of the mess out of your house, which could result in less house cleaning for you!

4.) Open windows

You will be amazed at how much of a difference this will make in how your home smells. If it’s really warm (welcome to Louisiana!), just leave them open for short periods of time. Any amount of time will help.

We hope these tips help you with cleaning after a Halloween party. After all, Halloween is supposed to be fun, not extra work! If you need some tips on Decorating for Halloween, we’ve got you covered. Check out our blog, Halloween Yard Prep, for some great ideas!
